In 2022, HACEY Health Initiative, supported by Access Bank, scaled up the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme across ten Nigerian states, including Lagos, Abuja, and Kaduna.
The program directly engaged 2,000 girls, enhancing their knowledge of health, leadership, and productivity, while also equipping them to develop solutions to challenges affecting women and girls. The annual essay competition remained a centrepiece, with top finalists inducted into the HACEY Girls’ Advisory Board to champion girls’ voices. Beyond direct participants, advocacy efforts reached over five million people, raising awareness of the urgent need for investment in adolescent girls. By combining mentorship, training, and large-scale awareness, the 2022 summit highlighted HACEY’s commitment to breaking barriers that limit girls’ potential. It emphasised that when girls are given the right resources, they not only improve their own lives but also contribute meaningfully to building stronger, more inclusive communities.
