The 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, themed “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” highlighted the power of young girls to shape society.

With support from the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, the Sterling One Foundation, Wema Bank Plc, and media partners, HACEY organised school tours, summits, and competitions across ten states, directly reaching over 3,700 girls. Secondary school tours engaged thousands with empowerment talks and career guidance. At the same time, the Girl Child Summit convened 150 girls for panel discussions, film screenings, and workshops on gender norms, financial independence, and period poverty. A nationwide essay competition received entries from all 36 states, rewarding winners with laptops and cash prizes for their innovative ideas on leveraging technology. Media campaigns reached over 500,000 people. By inspiring girls to pursue careers and build confidence, the 2024 summit reaffirmed that investing in girls’ visions creates lasting change for communities and the nation.
